Looking forward to Spring

We have been enjoying looking at daffodils and various other flowers coming out, Lil one loves looking at them, smelling them. So this activity seemed perfect to keep him busy for few minutes and learn about seeds. We used some egg cartons, got some compost, seeds and started planting.
Everyday we look at the growth of little seedings which such a joy.
Our Miss Cornflower was the quickest to show , then cherry tomatoes. Lets see what comes up
next:-) Need to see what are we going to do one these are all ready to be potted.....

Lil one enjoyed spooning compost in the egg cartons and then planting the seeds.A pretty easy and soothing activity to do if your lil one still likes eating earth or small things then maybe don't introduce this activity yet.

Mural at PrestonRoad Community Library for Children's Section

I was super thrilled that my proposal for the Mural got such a positive response at the Preston Road Library. Though creating the artwork I must say came with its set of challenges, especially that I worked on it in my small studio space, had to carry it down hill, asking our Airbnb Guest help take of Special K.
The artwork has been done on Perspex sheet, though its best and more long lasting if one paints on the front side of perspex, I painted on the right side so that kids can feel the texture of the paint/the brushstrokes. For additional sensory add on I added Felt leaves along with few other textures and colourful perspex discs.
Am so grateful for my other half to make this video for me. I love his documentary/factual style of filmmaking.

Buffalo, Newyork State, U.S -Allentown

Second part of our quick travels was Buffalo, Newyork State, U.S. Why did we choose Buffalo? we wanted something near Toronto in U.S and both of us had no clue of this part of the Newark State. We reached monday afternoon with Megabus - pretty decent ride (forgot to book front seats), time taken at customs was decent too.We stayed at Adam's Mark , Buffalo hotel ; its pretty good for location as its literally in downtown Buffalo. People like us who like to walk and explore, couldn't have asked for more, though I did need to get used to the time waiting /confusing pedestrian crossing.Oh yes, don't miss out on breakfast buffet the hotel does...we stuffed ourselves...:-)Below are few pics from my best part of the city -Walk to AllentownAllentown boasts a thriving cultural and artistic scene and a large selection of bars, restaurants, and funky shops. I couldn't resist taking pictures of the houses on Trinity Street.....just look at those amazing colours.

Visit to Montreal, QC, Canada

After a long planning and going through a list of places we wanted to visit we ended up dividing the quick holiday into two small holidays - Montreal, QC, Canada and Buffalo, New York, US.

We had lovely 3 days in Montreal, booked in Samesun Montreal Central , met lovely people and it was walking distance to most of the places we wanted to visit.I used to get up with beautiful fragrances of freshly Baked Croissants every morning. We managed to cover few touristy and few not so touristy bits...and few amazing cafes. One has to visit Kahwa Cafe on Avenue du Mount Royal E,had beautiful decor and great sandwiches here. The second favourite was a small patisserie just opposite Kahwa Cafe but very tiny sitting space and it was already crowded with the queue so we couldn't get to have sit down experience here.
We came across Cafe KAFEIN too loved the arts vibe of it and the food. Sandwiches made from Focaccia with grilled vegetables was amazing, loved the baskets these are served in along with few crisps and small portion on salad. we even tried their soup and lemonade really a delight.

Came across loads of runners sprinting up and down on Mount Royal, which was amazing to see.Loved the graffiti filled walls, the walk on Rue DULUTH reminded me of walking on Portobello market, London.

The only thing we didn't like was, too many smokers on the road, found it bit difficult to pass the second hand smoking.

Enough talking here are few pics from the trip.....

Portfolio is now Live !! Carbonmade

After whole research what website to opt for my online folio, I have finally decided to go with Carbonmade. I must say it was fairly easy to make a website on that, though it has limitations of fonts on the free templates; never mind still am happy with how the work looks.

Online folio was one of the big tasks on my Feb list! and I have kind of completed it. A gorgeous looking CV and a good blurb about myself and it should be ticked off my list.... of course it needs to be constantly updated.

2015 CURIO : Shadow Box Show Group Exhibition @ARTiculations

Had a wonderful opportunity to take part in group exhibition with other 129 Artists, called 'Curio: Shadow Box Show. This is second exhibition of its kind for 'ARTiculations -THE EARL SELKIRK GALLERY' owned by two lovely people Heather & Miki along with dog Charlie.

Artists answered an open call for this fun exhibition and each received a small square shadow box with the only stipulation being that they respect the dimensions of the box. The results are an extensive collection of unique ‘cabinets of curiosity’ in simple uniform frames - ARTiculations
It was great to see such beautiful ideas come out of this exhibition, though i could manage to go for only short while for the preview; it was fun to see other Artists. Sharing few of the hurried pics of the display and my box :-)

my box 'where i spilled colours'

It took 3 attempts to put that forest of colours together , am really pleased with it.
The exhibition is on till DEC 21, 2015; so if you do visit let me know what you think.
